SSG Eddie Martinez, Senior NCO, Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences

SSG Eddie Martinez, Senior NCO of the United States Army Medical Directorate-Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences (USAMD-AFRIMS). SSG Martinez enlisted in the Army in 2012 as a 68J and completed Basic Training at Fort Benning, in Columbus Georgia and AIT at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. His first duty station was Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington, where he was assigned to the 551st Medical Logistics Company, 56th Multifunctional Battalion, 62nd Medical Brigade, as a Medical Logistics Specialist. SSG Martinez deployed with the 551st MLC to Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) 13-14, where he served as the Shipping and Receiving NCOIC. Upon redeployment SSG Martinez was assigned a Squad Leader role and served as the Customer Support NCOIC. SSG Martinez deployed once again to Camp Taji, Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) 15-16, where he served as the Medical Logistics Warehouse NCOIC. SSG Martinez then relocated to Fort Sam Houston at Joint Base San Antonio, where he served as the Operations NCO for Bravo Company, 188th Medical Battalion, 32nd Medical Brigade from October 2016 thru January 2019. SSG Martinez is currently dual hatted serving as the AFRIMS Senior NCO and Chief of Supply & Services within the Logistics Department at the United States Army Medical Directorate-Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences (USAMD-AFRIMS).

SSG Martinez's military education includes Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Close Combatives Level I and II, Combat Life Savers Course, Field Sanitation Course, Tech Transportation of Hazard Material Course and Cadre Training Course

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Award (Oak Leaf Cluster), Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Ribbon, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (with Campaign Star), Inherent Resolve Medal (with Campaign Star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (with numeral 2), the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (with numeral 2), NATO Medal, and the Drivers Wheeled Mechanic Badge.
